Overview

Garonga Safari Camp, located in the 22 000 hectare Makalali Conservancy in Limpopo, has been designed to reflect the textures of the earth with rough plastered walls and natural canvas. Garonga’s holistic philosophy is to offer a safari for the soul, finding inspiration in nature with time to reflect.  Garonga offers a fantastic Big Five game experience, with elephant, rhino, lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, hippo, and an abundance of antelope and more. Professional guides introduce the wonders of Africa’s wildlife on game drives and wilderness walks for more intimate, enhanced encounters. For a truly unique experience, a sleep-out excursion on a secluded deck over the veldt is magical, with moonlit vistas, an explosion of stars, and the lion’s roar. Or simply take time out with an outdoor bush bath, or aromatherapy and reflexology sessions in the Sala.  Six luxury tents are carefully set amongst ebony trees on the banks of a dry riverbed, each with a private wood deck, hammock, and beautiful views. Be indulged with little luxuries and thoughtful touches in the bedrooms and bathrooms, with romantically draped beds and indoor and outdoor showers. Bernardo Smith and his team offer generous hospitality, and the main lodge is a convivial meeting place. Summer months allow for bush picnics, while dinners are always an occasion with varied venues, where sublime food indulges the senses.  4-Star Lodge | Children 12+ welcome at Safari Camp | Airstrip | Complimentary Wi-Fi hotspot.
