About your Specialist Bird Guide – Nick Smith
From a very early age I have always had a passion for the bush and I was lucky enough to visit the Kruger National Park often with my parents. I attended school on a wildlife estate from the age of 11 and when I glanced out of the windows, during class, and looked in awe at my surroundings and at the occasional animal that passed, I knew that becoming a guide would be my future. I studied with Eco Training where I obtained my FGASA qualification, back up trails and advanced birding.
I have extensive experience from guiding in the Makuleke Concession of the Kruger National Park which is home to over 75% of the Kruger National Park’s biodiversity, which makes it an extremely special place. It is also home to some of the most spectacular places I have ever seen including the fever tree forest, Lanner Gorge and the picturesque Limpopo floodplains. I have also guided in the Klaserie Private Nature Reserve which is a 60 000 hectare property and also forms part of the greater Kruger National Park. I have witnessed some of the most spectacular sightings on my guiding journey and my aim is for all to have their own unique breathtaking encounters.
